Holiday Crafts

Find Holiday inspiration here! Every project on this page is a full recipe, not a boxed kit. You measure and weigh individual ingredients like oils, fragrance, and colorants instead of opening something pre-measured. That gives you more control over the finished piece. It works well as a gift or as something you keep for yourself this season. If you are wanting a more Autumn-themed project, our fall and Halloween projects cover that theme in more depth.

Soap, Candle, and Body Projects for the Season

Browse by craft to find the project that fits your plans.

  • Cold process soap projects. Build swirls, layered colors, and custom bar shapes from raw oils and lye. Plan on a 4-to-6-week cure before bars are ready to wrap.
  • Melt and pour soap projects. A pre-made base melts fast. You can pour, unmold, and package within days. Choose this route if your gift list needs bars in under a week.
  • Candle projects. Each recipe covers wax, wick size, and fragrance load for a clean burn. Be sure to refresh the Fragrance Calculator for specifics.
  • Bath and body projects. Sugar scrubs, lotions, and bath bombs round out a gift set. Most of these are ready to package the same day you make them.

How Much Time Your Holiday Project Really Needs

Cold process soap needs real time before it is gift-ready. Skip the cure, and the bars can be irritating to the skin. It’s best to work backward from your gift date. Start cold process projects at least 6 weeks out. Give yourself 8 weeks if a fragrance needs extra time to mellow.

If your list is longer than your calendar, melt-and-pour and candle projects need far less lead time. Test a small batch of any new fragrance first, the same way experienced makers do before scaling up. Once your projects are set, browse Christmas celebration crafts for winter themes or holiday gift idea projects for wrapping and giving.

How far ahead do I need to start cold process soap if I want it ready for the holidays?
Start cold process soap at least 6 weeks before your gift date to allow for a full cure. Store the bars on a well-ventilated shelf, away from direct sunlight to protect their scent until you wrap them.

Why does my melt and pour soap start sweating before I can wrap it as a gift?
Melt and pour bases pull moisture from the air. They are ready to be wrapped as soon as they harden and are removed from the mold. Wrap with plastic wrap and you can use a heat gun or blow dryer on low to tighten and seal.

How many bars should I plan on making if I am gifting soap to several families this season?
Plan on 4 to 6 bars per household for a bundle that feels generous. Pair the soap with a lotion or lip balm project to round out the gift without adding much extra time.
